![]() Seriously, I've replaced a number of AHCI SSDs in the last few years. I appreciate your help and expertise.īesides tripling the R/W speed over AHCI (which you can't buy anymore anyway) and doubling the capacity (assuming you maxed out the original to 1TB)? Hmmmm. The upgrade you mention here, Mike, I assume it is upgrading the SSD? What would be the improvement over the stock one the machine shipped with? 200.00$ is not a big hit to do, as long as there are real benefits to doing it! Just to be sure: this will fit and work for a 2013 trashcan Mac? You have to click on Buying options to find the 2TB for $175. Not counting the data transfer, total install time is <5 minutes including the time to read the instructions. This 2TB Crucial plus a $10 pin adapter and a $7 heat sink gets you upgraded for under $200 and is as fast as your 6.1 can go. You don't need the "fast" ones (over $400) since you have a 2-lane bus. Instead, increase your RW speed nearly 3x by replacing it with an NVMe 3 x4 blade. If you have your original SSD, do not wipe it. ![]() Your problem can easily be caused by thermal throttling. I'm expecting that some will clear when Apple releases a 12.1 update. I did a clean install of Monterey on an external to chase issues I'm having with Finale and NotePerformer 3.32. ![]() Monterey still has its share of issues but DP 11.01 is running great for me. ![]()
